Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth was named the Broadway.com Star of the Year for 2010 after a week of online voting by theater fans. The stage and screen star made a return to the Broadway this year as Fran Kubelik in the hit musical revival of Promises, Promises.
"I love that!" she said, after being surprised with the news while filming an interview for the new Broadway.com talk show Show People. "I'm very, very honored by that, because it's the people that vote. This just means a lot to me."
Other Star of the Year nominees, chosen by the editorial staff of Broadway.com, were John Gallagher Jr. (American Idiot), Sean Hayes (Promises, Promises), Nathan Lane (The Addams Family), Patti LuPone (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), Bernadette Peters (A Little Night Music), Lily Rabe (The Merchant of Venice) and Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson).
In honor of Chenoweth's win, Broadway.com has dedicated its entire homepage on December 23 to the star. Learn more about Chenoweth and her incredible year on Broadway by clicking around the site!
